LETS get together for green social goodness!
Waltham Forest LETS now hosts the monthly Green Drinks event (first night of each month) and we’ve put together a jolly programme for the next few months. We are rotating this social gathering around different venues in Waltham Forest, so that we can sample a variety of places and be accessible to residents in different areas! We also thought it’d be helpful to vary venues between pubs and cafes so that those with children can also join.
We invite people to come and talk informally at Green Drinks about projects you are involved in locally, of the environmental, community and social justice kind – get in touch with us if you’d like to share something you know about at a future event.
April Green Drinks will happen at the William the Fourth pub, 816 Leyton High Road, a cheery (and price-friendly) traditional inn with good selections of local ales, on Wednesday 1st April, 8pm. No hoax! Ask at the bar for the Green Drinkers – likely we’ll be in the back room.
This month we want to spread the word about Green Open Homes, taking place this year over 16th & 17th May 2015. The project is looking for people who have made home improvements that have kept you warm and saved you money, and who would be willing to share your experience to inspire others. It’s all about sharing energy-efficiency practices and making our borough more sustainable. Email greenhomes@hornbeam.org.uk or call 0208 558 6880 by April 10th to get involved! More info will be available at Green Drinks on 1st April.
And please see the Green Drinks programme below for up until the summer. If you’ve any lovely suggestions for places we could host Green Drinks in future, let us know.
- Friday 1st May, 8pm at All You Read Is Love – the super lovely independent bookshop-cafebar that was such a hit during its pop up time at Hoe Street Central – now with a permanent space at 877 High Road Leytonstone, E11 1HR.
- Monday 1st June, 7pm at Le Delice – the popular cafe on Hoe Street opposite Rose & Crown serving an excellent variety of snacks, meals, cakes & beverages. Also with a back room.
- Thursday 1st July, 8pm at the Nag’s Head pub, 9 Orford Road, Walthamstow Village – summertime, and they have a large and delightful garden.
- Saturday 1st August, 8pm at the Wild Card Brewery, Ravenswood Industrial Estate, Walthamstow Village – E17’s favourite own-brewed beer spot with the yard outside for late summer fun (and usually street food stalls as well).
See you there!
